Fees & Rebates

Active Health Clinic has a range of programs including individual and groups to suit your needs, please contact the clinic for further information.

Medicare and Private Health Insurance Rebates

You will most likely be able to access either Medicare or private health insurance rebates when visiting Active Health Clinic. The rebates will depend on which health professional you have a consultation with, the length of the session, your insurer and your level of private health insurance.

We recommend you talk with your GP or private health insurer about any rebates available to you before your first appointment with us. Medicare and private health insurance rebates are processed at our clinic for face-to-face appointments.

Please note that for each appointment with us you can only claim either a Medicare rebate or a private health insurance rebate, not both.

Exercise Physiology Services

You may be able to claim Medicare rebates for our exercise physiology services through a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan. Discuss and organise a CDM plan with your GP. (It can't be done with specialists.) A CDM is a Medicare initiative for chronic conditions that last for at least 6 months. A CDM allows you to access 5 sessions per calendar year with allied health practitioners, including exercise physiologists, dietitians and physiotherapists. The current rebate is $52.95 per session (or more if you have reached the Medicare threshold).

Our exercise physiologists are registered with over 30 private health insurers. Available rebates may range from $17-$132, depending on your insurer and your level of cover. Please contact your insurer to find out about the rebates they can offer you.

Psychology Services

You may be able to claim Medicare rebates for our psychology services under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), through the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative.

If you want to pursue this, talk with your GP about setting up a MHCP. (When you book, tell the receptionist your appointment is for a new MHCP, because you may need a double appointment.) Your doctor will fill in the MHCP and work out your suitability for referral to a psychologist. If your GP decides you are suitable, he or she will write you a referral letter to a psychologist, with a psychologist's name on it. You may choose to be referred to one of our psychologists. Take the letter with you when you see your psychologist.

A Mental Health Care Plan allows you to have 6 subsidised sessions with a psychologist. These are followed by a review with your GP, where, if appropriate, another 4 sessions can be allocated, with a maximum of 10 sessions per calendar year. The current rebate is $84.80 per session.

For private health insurance rebates, please contact your insurer to find out about the rebates they offer for psychology services.
